COUNCIL FOR FOOD RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (CFRD)

The Council for Food Research and Development was established on 22nd June 2005 as a venture of Government of Kerala, under the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, with the assistance of Government of India. The Council was established with the goal of promoting value addition and product diversification in agricultural sector, to assist farmers/ entrepreneurs to ensure international standards in processing and presentation of our agricultural products and processed foods and to equip them to compete globally. It aims to help the production of indigenous food products with reliable, accurate and internationally accepted quality and food safety and also to train food processing industry management and personnel on the need for modern quality and safety requirement for production and marketing of indigenous ethnic foods.

The Council for Food Research and Development, Kerala (CFRD), registered as a society under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955,with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala as its President and the Hon’ble Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer affairs as its Vice President.
CFRD is located in a 35 acre campus, Perinjottakkal in Iravon Village of Konni Taluk, 7 Kms from Konni town, in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala.
